Honorine de Brabant Remi Tanne France, 1916
No one knows the origin of Honorine de Brabant – who, when, or in whose name bred this beautiful striped rose. The variety is very popular, widely grown, and valued for its frost hardiness and tolerance of hot sun. The flowers are cupped and very double. They are pale pink with unevenly scattered light crimson stripes and spots; later the pink fades to white, while the crimson turns lilac-violet. The flowers appear in dense clusters of 3–7 blooms. The shrub is very vigorous, densely leafy, and well branched. Honorine de Brabant blooms abundantly repeatedly: the first flowering is, of course, the most impressive, but many flowers also appear in autumn. One of the best old roses.
