Morden Fireglow

Morden Fireglow Collicutt & Marshall, 1989

This Canadian rose is valued for its excellent winter hardiness and unusual colour. No other rose in the Explorer or Parkland series has flowers as vivid red as Morden Fireglow. On closer inspection, the petals prove to be bright orange-red with a glowing undertone. The flowers are cup-shaped, semi-double. They appear singly or in clusters of up to 5, followed by large round hips. The foliage is dark green and healthy. The first flush is very abundant, after which only occasional flowers appear. In wet weather, the buds do not open. However, in colder climates Morden Fireglow is quite useful as a good substitute for a floribunda, which would not survive in harsh conditions.
