The petals unfurl from long, elegant buds in a spiral, and the buds are almost black.

They are deep red, with the same non-fading shade on both sides of the petals – no white centre, no white streaks – just pure deep red.

The flowers usually appear singly, are excellent for cutting, and are beautiful in the garden.

The flowers are very double and tolerate rain well.

The bush is strong, sturdy, compact, with glossy, polished foliage and crimson new growth.

Very disease-resistant and unusually winter-hardy for a hybrid tea rose.
