Vanille Fraise

Panicle hydrangea Vanille Fraise

This variety has a dense, very large conical or broadly pyramidal inflorescence with lower side projections.

The flower clusters are borne throughout the whole shrub in a dense cascade, at first milky white, then soft pink, quickly turning a pleasant strawberry pink.

At the end of flowering, they become a rich cherry red.

The shrub grows to over 2 m in height. The shoots are stiff, intensely red in colour.

The shape and height of the shrub are regulated by pruning.

The leaves are dark green, with bright red petioles, which makes them especially ornamental.

Prefers light partial shade.

Soils should be acidic to slightly acidic loam.

It likes moisture and does not tolerate drought.

Hardy to -30°C.
