Solidarnosc

A Polish variety with attractive, intensely red, velvety flowers, with a slightly lighter stripe in the middle of the sepals. It flowers profusely from May to September. Especially useful for growing in small gardens and containers.

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE: Flowers large, 16 cm in diameter, composed of 6-8 velvety, intensely red sepals with a lighter stripe running through the centre, becoming lighter as they fade; sometimes there are white, irregular spots on the sepals. The stamens have purple-red anthers on creamy-yellow filaments. Flowers profusely V˗ beginning of VII on last year’s shoots and again, but less strongly, VIII˗IX on this year’s shoots. Ternate leaves, consisting of three elliptical, pointed leaflets, dark green, firm, slightly matte, with smooth margins.

HOW IT GROWS: climbs by means of leaf stalks. It grows slowly, reaching 1.5 m in height.
